Overview
In the realm of shadow theater, our client Fictionville Studio and Hamid Rahmanian embarked on a groundbreaking journey, exploring a unique technique. Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic; Rahmanian's graphics, derived from the visual tradition of the region, are rendered as puppets, costumes, masks, scenography and digital animation, all of which come to life in a “live animation” shadow casting technique perfected by shadow master Larry Reed on a cinema-size screen.
Production & Visual Storytelling
Our strategy involved creating two distinct videos to capture the essence of this extraordinary venture. The first, a concise, documentary-style promo video under five minutes, offered a comprehensive overview of the group. It featured an introduction with creator and director Hamid Rahmanian, insights into their unique technique, and behind-the-scenes footage. This included details of puppet creation, live scene construction, and an interview with shadow master Larry Reed, painting a vivid picture of the performance. Additionally, we captured engaging post-performance scenes, highlighting interactions with curious audiences, particularly children, who ventured backstage to explore the art of theater.
The second video, a dynamic one-and-a-half-minute commercial designed for social media, harnessed the power of motion graphics.
Conclusion
We take pride in our video production services, which played a pivotal role in supporting the group's online video marketing campaign at the time. The performances, held at the prestigious Cowell Theater in the renowned Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco, enjoyed a series of sold-out shows.
